Your GEOMAR DokTeam
We are the DokTeam, representing you and around 140 other doctoral researchers (DRs) at GEOMAR. So you may be wondering who’s ‘we’ in the DokTeam 2026?

My name is Ranpeng. I started my PhD in the summer of 2024. My research focuses on the solid part of the Earth - the seafloor and below - through numerical simulations. I am interested in how mineral phases change, how rocks deform and move, and how mantle convection shapes planetary evolution. I am a big fan of science fiction, literature, and board games. I don’t like bugs - both inside and outside my code.

Hi everyone, my name is Sina, and I recently started as a doctoral researcher in October 2024. Before this, I was already affiliated with GEOMAR during my master’s thesis, where I participated in the GAME program. My research focuses on simulations with an Earth system model to better understand the long-term effects of alkalinity enhancement in the oceans as a method for carbon dioxide removal from the atmosphere. Outside of work, I enjoy climbing and my favorite food wraps, which I sometimes eat about three times per week.. :)
Activities:
- RD2 council, Staff council, Directorate

Hello everyone, my name is Lukas (Schreiber) and I have been doing my PhD since March 2024. Potential induestrial-scale deep-sea mining activities provoke sediment plumes in the water column, whose effects I am investigating on organisms and biogeochemical cycle with computer models. My university education involves bachelor programme Technical Physics at TU Ilmenau and Climate Physics at Uni Kiel/Geomar for the master degree. In my free time I enjoy dancing Lindy Hop and playing inline hockey.
